I am more than a cook and foodie. For those of you who don’t know, thanks to my mom, I am a book geek. I worked/lived in bookstores for 7 years, 1 month and 13 days. I love books so much that I set up a lending library in our home here in Alhambra. I owe my love of books to one woman – my mom. Some of my favorite, cherished childhood memories include making Saturday morning trips with my mama to the public library in Memorial Park, El Paso, TX. She always had books in the house. Panda Bear’s Paint Box (Little Golden Books) is the first book memory I have. My sister is carrying on that tradition and my nephews know the joy and importance of reading.
We all know the benefits that reading to children can provide, and how it can help to strengthen the bond between parents and their children. But did you know that giving your kids milk before bedtime may help them to sleep better, and be more alert and awake the following morning? There is a new collection of bilingual bedtime stories that were developed to encourage kids to drink milk while the story is being read to them. They provide a fun and engaging way to spend quality time with your children, while helping them to get a good night’s sleep.
With kids’ back in school, getting a good night’s sleep is important for everyone in the family – mom, dad, and uncles included! Go to vasodeleche.com to download them for free.

My son has 3 Sponge Bob books, and usually we end up reading one of those before bedtime!
My family loves goodnight Moon. Such a cute story.
Who doesn’t love Goodnight Moon?! I can still remember hearing my mom read this to her grandchildren at night. Everyone would get into it.

My children’s favorite bedtime story is still “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch and they are teenagers.
My son, David, loved Dr. Seuss and the “Bunny” books, Runaway Bunny and Goodnight Moon. He can still recite the entire alphabet using the Dr. Seuss version, “Big A, little a, what beings with A? Aunt Annie’s alligator, A, A, A!” He used to squeal with delight at D because his dad was “Don” who played football at Oregon and was therefore a “Duck”, and we loved our “dogs”: “Big D, little d, David Donald Do, dreamed a dozen doughnuts and a duck-dog too!” There was a drawing of a duck/dog combination animal. Only in a Dr. Seuss book!
I still call David my “little bunny” and tell him I will always love him, always care for him, will always be there for him. He’s 26! Sometimes when he visits, I make him listen to me read to him. He puts up no argument!
Loved Dr. Seuss as well! Such a cute story of your son.
My favorite bedtime reading story is actually with my granddaughter, Hannah. She (VERY) quickly memorized the stories, would listen to the first few words of the sentence and finish with the last. She’d turn the page, listen, complete, repeat… And once the story was done, she’d then want it read again and again. I LOVED being part of that bedtime ritual for Hannah and Lexi.
When Mija (Connie) was a child, I had a subscription for all the classics as well as the Little Golden Books (part of her white canopied bedroom set included a hutch for all her books). And how she loved to read when growing up!
So every single night there is always that question. ” what book are we going to read tonight mom? “By the time I come up with a few books for us (my boys Cruz and Damian) have a pile of books. ( and I mean a PILE!! ) I would have to say one of my favorites has always been ” Morris the Moose Goes to School” all of the June B. Jones books from back in the day. My son Cruz loves dinosaurs , so basically anything with dinosaurs in it , and you have his attention. Damian my middle son likes Any of “The Magic Tree House” books , and any book with football in it. So , with plenty of books to read, my boys can easily guzzle down a glass of milk before bedtime.
I like the read a children bedtime stories book that was passed down from my aunt.
They love The Foot Book!
Shilo is the book my little son likes me to read to him! Sometimes he reads it to me though!
my daughters favorite book is Identical by Ellen Hopkins. She is 16. She is making me read it now! haha
our favorite story is Elena the Slurping Monkey!!!
